Why PTRS

What Makes Us Work

PTRS has always maintained a client centred philosophy. First and foremost, we take pride in knowing that our clients are in good care during the recovery of such a traumatic episode in their lives. We value professional relationships and accommodate all appropriate therapy needs. Our “in-house” systems approach to management and direct care of files allows for immediate response in all of our specialty areas, as well as a continuum of care during client contact. We understand the serious circumstances of our clients and the devastating events that occur post-injury.

Multidisciplinary Health Care Approach

PTRS offers a unique wraparound approach to support, which recognizes the interpersonal relationships between clients, families, health care providers and other relevant health specialties. The need for best care practices is always recognized at PTRS and therefore all sensitivity is provided.

Elite Service Managers

PTRS service managers supervise all levels of support to ensure proper integration of programming needs. With a combination of more than 70 years of experience, management at PTRS is professional, reliable and accountable. PTRS managers specialize in consultation, needs assessment, associate/client matching, goal setting, behavioural documentation, continuum of care and effective implementation of all programming needs. Our service managers are an extension of our associates and provide ongoing contact to ensure that all client goal setting is met to the satisfaction of clients and team
members.

Multi-Cultural and Multi-Disciplined Associate Profiles

PTRS associates vary in their education and expertise. We serve a large multicultural population and are able to accommodate many language needs. All associates are familiar with and trained in the areas of Acquired Brain Injury, Behavioural Modification and Mental Health. PTRS also has its own in-service training program, which focuses on new research and medical treatment, leading edge behavioural documentation, cognitive intervention techniques and approaches in the care and management of clients. The combination of education, experience and training allows us to provide the most dynamic care to each client we serve.

File Settlement Success

Ms. Christine Kalkanis MSW, RSW, LCP and various PTRS associates have provided expert trial and mediation testimony that has contributed to fair settlement results throughout the industry. PTRS has also been credited with providing expert testimony on three of the largest catastrophic MVA judgments in Ontario’s recent history. Working closely with legal counsel and neurological specialists, our behavioural documentation and insight into the cause and effect of behaviours, as well as safety judgment issues, has assisted with determining a valuable assessment of life care planning costs.
